ILAM Toyota Supports Windwhistle School 4WD High Country Tour
We recently sponsored Windwhistle School’s 4WD High Country Tour, where guests were treated to a unique guided 4WD tour behind the gates of private high country stations. A cracker of a day ensued, with participants enjoying the breathtaking scenery, a gourmet picnic lunch, and great company with over 60 vehicles (a large number of them Toyotas) participating. All the money raised is going towards funding a much-needed second teacher for the rural school.
The sun shone down on over 60 vehicles (including a large number of Toyota Hiluxs, Land Cruisers, and Land Cruiser 70s), as participants gathered for what was set to be a fantastic day of traversing private High Country Station farms. After breakfast and cuppa, everyone set off and tuned in their radios for an audio commentary on the working farms they were driving through, learning about the history of the land, what’s farmed on it, and various points of interest. It was the first time a 4WD tour had crossed farm boundaries in the area, and attendees gained an exclusive behind the scenes look at working farms.
As the convoy neared the end of the 45km track, it was time for a bite to eat. Guests enjoyed individual platter boxes, sponsored by ILAM Toyota, whilst taking in the breathtaking scenery, including fantastic views of the Mt Hutt range, Rakaia River, and the Southern Alps.
Overall, everyone had a fantastic day exploring terrain that’s rarely accessible to the public. Once the exploring was done, guests had the chance to catch up and reflect on the day’s events over drinks and nibbles at Big Ben Station.
We were proud to play a small part in raising money for Windwhistle School, which will go towards funding their much-needed second teacher to ensure the future education of the local children that attend.
