Gary Oberholster, Miles Toyota Elite Technician, Celebrates 20 Years
We recently celebrated our Elite Technician, Gary Oberholster, 20th year with Miles Toyota.
Gary brings a wealth of knowledge – and a bright smile – to the team. From Zimbabwe, Gary arrived in New Zealand with a Toyota Service Advisor qualification and took up a position as a workshop foreman at Miles. Through Toyota New Zealand, Gary completed his Master Service Advisor qualification and soon after, our CEO discovered Gary’s eye for detail and asked him to take up a position on the floor, completing PDIs and fitups. From there, Gary progressed through the Toyota Technician courses to qualify as a Diagnostic Master Technician.
However, Gary’s Toyota journey was far from complete, and he was then requested by Miles Toyota to take specialist courses to become a Hybrid Elite Technician. Toyota New Zealand also requested he partake in some additional specialist training, which included Unintended Acceleration Investigation and Crash Data Recovery courses. His expertise is outstanding.
To say we’re lucky to have Gary on our team is an understatement.
Outside of work, Gary has been an integral part of ŠKODA Cycling Canterbury, run by Miles Group. Gary is an original, getting involved in the first ŠKODA cycling group back in 2015, started by cycling enthusiasts Steven Kelly and Grant Wengler. He grew the team and worked closely with Miles ŠKODA to facilitate enthusiastic group rides to train for Le Race, and rode in the ŠKODA wave on race day. Gary’s tireless work also saw him organising mountain bikers to join ŠKODA cycling, which just truly highlights Gary’s dedication to the sport.
Here’s to Gary’s impressive 20 years, and hopefully, many more! Thank you, Gary, for your enthusiasm, expertise, and kind, positive attitude. We are grateful to count you amongst our team.
