Amy du Plessis Joins Miles Toyota as First-Ever Brand Ambassador

A partnership built on shared values

The Miles Toyota team are proud to welcome professional rugby player Amy du Plessis as their first-ever ambassador, uniting two passionate advocates for the future of women’s rugby in Canterbury and beyond.

Amy has established herself as one of the leading talents in New Zealand rugby through her performances at both provincial and international levels. Her passion for growing the women’s game, commitment to her community, and dedication to continuous development make her a natural fit for the partnership.

For nearly a decade, Miles Toyota has been an integral part of the local rugby community as the Official Community Partner of Canterbury Rugby, backing the women’s Farah Palmer Cup team and driving the Miles Toyota Cup, Premiership, and Championship competitions. Welcoming Amy as their first ambassador is a natural extension of that support, bringing together two advocates united by a shared passion for championing women’s rugby and creating opportunities for the next generation of players.

Growing women’s rugby

This partnership has been built to go beyond a traditional ambassador arrangement. Alongside representing the Miles Toyota brand, Amy will work closely with the team on projects that help grow and celebrate the game across the region, while gaining exposure to the broader leadership, partnership, and commercial skills that help drive the game forward off the field. Together, Amy and Miles Toyota will work to elevate the profile of women’s rugby, strengthen community connections, and create meaningful opportunities for the next generation of female players.

“Miles Toyota’s commitment to the growth of rugby in our region is why I’m proud to sign on as their first-ever Ambassador.

They’ve been part of our local rugby community for nearly a decade – the official Community Partner of Canterbury Rugby, backing the women’s Farah Palmer Cup team, and driving the Miles Toyota Cup and Championship. That’s nearly ten years of showing up and doing the mahi, because they genuinely believe in investing in our game, and our community. Those are the exact values we share, and it’s why we’re both so driven to empower the next generation of female players.

We’re doing things a bit differently here. Sure, you’ll see me driving my new Plug-in Hybrid RAV4 – which I absolutely love – you’ll also hear me on the radio, and maybe see me on some billboards, but this goes way deeper than that. The team are showing me what it takes to help build skills and relationships to continue to grow the game off the field, too. Together, alongside Miles Toyota, we’re committed to growing women’s rugby.”

“Amy was a natural choice to become Miles Toyota’s first-ever ambassador,” says Ash Pearson, Marketing & CRM Manager at Miles Toyota.

“For nearly a decade, we’ve invested in Canterbury rugby because we genuinely believe in the positive impact the game has on our communities. Throughout that time, we’ve been proud to support the growth of women’s rugby, and Amy represents everything that’s exciting about its future. She’s an exceptional athlete, a respected leader, and someone who is deeply passionate about creating opportunities for others, starting at the grassroots level.”

“What makes this partnership special is that it’s built on a shared purpose. While Amy will proudly represent the Miles Toyota brand, we’re equally committed to supporting initiatives that grow the women’s game, strengthen community connections, and help inspire the next generation of players. We’re incredibly excited about what we can achieve together.”
