A chat with Brandon Ramsell, Miles Toyota Fleet Account Manager
A few years back, we recognised the need to employ a dedicated specialist to look after our fleet customers. These are customers with quite different needs to private buyers, often requiring safe and efficient vehicles under a payment plan that best suits their business’ needs.
You’ve likely heard him on the radio, and for Miles Toyota, Brandon Ramsell is that man. We thought we’d take the opportunity to pick his brains on everything from his dream Toyota to what he likes to do out of work – keep reading for more.
What do you find most rewarding about your role as Fleet Account Manager?
Being in fleet, I love taking the time to find the right solution to best suit the client’s needs. When meeting with these clients I like to discuss what the situation is with their current fleet, as well as what the future looks like for their business. Whether they’re trying to improve their efficiency, safety, or are just after the most cost-effective solution I enjoy designing a replacement and additional programme to help achieve their goals.
You can have any two Toyotas, what would they be and why?
Whilst I enjoy driving modern technology, I am a fan of classic cars. An easy decision would be the SR Corolla Coupe and AE86 Liftback – my kids might disagree with me but I really like the shape and design of these models.

Which feature of a Toyota do you enjoy the most?
Not so much a feature but more of a benefit – it has to be the resale value of our brand. When dealing with small, medium, and large fleets our biggest feature really is the total cost of ownership across the range for our client. Combine that with what Toyota is most known for, reliability, and the customer benefits throughout the lifecycle of their assets.
Do you have a good customer story you can share?
I have a client whose business had an entire fleet of competitor 4WD double cab utes, which is what the staff wanted (mainly for personal use). However, after working with a few of their key team members I ascertained that they didn’t actually need the 4WD capability, but rather just wanted the ute styling.
Many people aren’t aware that our 2WD Toyota Hilux comes standard with a rear diff lock switch, allowing for extra traction when needed. The best part is that the 2WD Toyota Hilux looks exactly the same as the 4WD variant, and in switching to the 2WD Hilux we were able to save them thousands per vehicle, while also keeping staff happy with new utes that perfectly suit their needs.
Who else in our team do you think deserves a shoutout and why?
I actually have two people, Andrew and Michelle our Senior Business Manager and Business Consultant. These two work very hard in a busy department to ensure every client gets offered customised finance and insurance products that not only offer them the best solution for their business but also save them money.
Outside of work, what do you like to do?
Mountain biking for sure – I love being up in the hills and taking in the views. However, most of all I love spending time with my family. I have two kids Mikayla (11) and Fletcher (7) and I am supported in everything I do by my wife Kirsty. Together we have plenty to do outside of work, with Mikayla horse riding, playing netball, playing touch rugby, and Fletcher riding his BMX, mountain bike, scooter, and motorbike (anything with wheels really) at our local track. Kirsty also plays netball and touch rugby which is great to be involved with.
