“The EV6 delivers striking aesthetics, the very latest EV technology together with a locally tuned handling package. If the popularity growth over the past few years is anything to go by, Kia is verging on a Kiwi favourite take over and we’re enjoying every moment of it. Kia’s future is exciting.
The EV6 Range
The EV6 range will feature four models.
- EV6 Air rear-wheel-drive (RWD) standard range with a 58.0 kWh battery, and an EV6 Air RWD long range 77.4 kWh battery.
- EV6 Earth all-wheel-drive (AWD) standard range 77.4 kWh battery.
- EV6 GT-Line AWD rear-wheel-drive standard range with 77.4 kWh battery.
The EV6 Air RWD long range will travel up to 528km on a single charge, while AWD models are capable of covering up to 506km between charges.
The EV6 features Kia’s new dramatic design language and styling – hints to the performance personality of the Kia EV. The LED lighting package enhances the futuristic blend of sweeping and sharp exterior contours. It is evident that light was a key design focus with the EV6’s LED front headlights, rear-combination lamps, and daytime running lights.
Caution, the top of the range GT-Line model will increase rubbernecking on our roads. Boasting standout exterior design differences and features like 20-inch alloy wheels, as well as ventilated front seats. Further GT-Line features include a 14-speaker Meridian™ premium audio system and optional Power Sliding and Tilting Sunroof. Nighttime driving is enhanced with the inclusion of Dual LED Headlamps with Adaptive Driving Beam. Two further features available are a Remote Smart Park Assist function and (optional, depending on model) ‘Vehicle to Load’ (V2L) and ‘Vehicle to Vehicle’ (V2V) plug, which makes the EV6 a power source on wheels capable of supporting electrical appliances, power tools to camping equipment. Speaking of stuff kiwis love doing, the EV6 can hook up to 1,600kg of braked towing capacity (model dependent, optional towbar required).
The fully electric EV6 has already impressed Top Gear’s judges thanks to its style, dynamic performance, long electric range and 800-volt ultra-fast charging – offering 10-to-80 percent charge in just 18 minutes!
