Kick for the Kia: Crusaders Halftime SUV Giveaway with Miles Kia

Miles Kia’s Kick for the Kia competition came to life on Friday, 23 May 2025, during the highly anticipated Crusaders vs Highlanders clash at Christchurch’s Apollo Projects Stadium.

This was our second year proudly partnering with the Crusaders, and once again, we had the opportunity to host an exciting halftime event. This year, we upped the ante with a major prize: a brand-new Kia Stonic SUV. The goal? To create a memorable experience for our customers, connect with our community, and share the fun with rugby fans across Canterbury.

How the Competition Worked

Entries for Kick for the Kia opened back in February, with fans invited to enter online. From those entries, three finalists were randomly selected just before kick-off on game night.

Each contestant had one shot from the centre of the 22-metre line. It was a high-stakes moment, miss, and you’re out. If more than one made it through, we would’ve gone into a sudden-death shootout. But with the pressure of 17,000 fans watching, none of the kicks sailed through the posts. The Kia Stonic stayed parked, but the energy from the crowd was unforgettable.

Kick with the Crusaders at Rugby Park

In the lead-up to the big night, we offered something extra for our entrants, a chance to train with the Crusaders. Held at Rugby Park in Christchurch, our Kick with the Crusaders session gave finalists the opportunity to practise their kicking, get advice from players and coaches, and soak up the atmosphere of a pro training ground.

It was a relaxed and memorable afternoon, and we’re incredibly grateful to the Crusaders team for helping make it happen.

More Than Just a Car Giveaway

At Miles Kia, we’re about more than just cars, we’re about community. As a Canterbury-owned and operated Kia dealership, based right in the heart of Christchurch, we’re proud to support local events, partner with iconic teams like the Crusaders, and create moments that go beyond the showroom floor.

Events like Kick for the Kia let us bring together our passion for sport, our commitment to our customers, and the energy of our region.

What’s Next?

While no one won the car this time, the atmosphere at Apollo Projects Stadium was electric. The crowd was on their feet, the Crusaders claimed the win over the Highlanders, and Kick for the Kia delivered on the excitement we set out to create.
