Celebrating 8 Years of Enviromark Diamond Certification

Here at Miles Group, we take our role in protecting and improving the environment seriously. That’s why we’re proud to share that Miles Toyota, Miles Toyota Airport, ILAM Toyota, Pacific Toyota, and Lexus of Christchurch have once again achieved the Toitū Enviromark Diamond Certification — the highest tier in this internationally recognised certification.

8 Years at Diamond Level

2025 marks our 15th year in the Toitū programme and our 8th consecutive year at Diamond level, a significant milestone underscoring our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility.

What Diamond Level Means

Achieving Toitū Enviromark Diamond certification demonstrates that we’ve gone beyond basic environmental compliance. To achieve and maintain this certification, our Toyota and Lexus dealerships must implement and uphold comprehensive environmental programmes, monitor significant environmental impacts, and ensure operational control to prevent negative consequences (just to name a few!).

On top of these efforts, our team participates in local environmental projects, aiming to raise the bar year on year.

2025 Activities

We’re taking steps to shape a better tomorrow, together. At a store level, we’re leading the way by upholding our Toitū Enviromark Diamond Certification. This year, our focus has been on continued improvement, with overall resource consumption decreasing compared to last year.

Building on our solar initiatives from 2023 and 2024 – now powering Miles Toyota with 171 panels and ILAM Toyota with 134 – we’ve continued enhancing sustainability across our dealerships.

We’ve expanded EV charging availability across Lexus of Christchurch, Miles Toyota, and ILAM Toyota, introduced new energy-monitoring systems at Lexus of Christchurch to better understand and manage electricity use, and added efficiency upgrades such as motion-sensor lighting in customer areas.

Outside our facilities, we’ve supported the wider community and environment through contributions to Trees for Canterbury and by organising our annual beach cleanup for early December. Toyota New Zealand has also streamlined its EV battery recycling process, further supporting sustainability efforts.
