Pacific Toyota are proud to support rising motorsport star Ayrton Hodson
At the young age of 18, Ayrton Hodson from Pay of Plenty captured everyone’s attention when he rapidly secured a position at the Elite Motorsport Academy of New Zealand. Apart from the Academy, which supports young racing talents in their quest for international success, our team at Pacific Toyota in the Bay takes great pride in standing alongside Ayrton as he embarks on his exhilarating ride to success.
Rising Star, Ayrton Hodson, takes podium finish to commence the 2023 season.
Ayrton has already established a reputation in New Zealand Speedway, climbing the ranks from mini stocks at the age of 13 to successfully finishing his first season in sprint cars last year. Just this past weekend, as the speedway season kicked off, Ayrton achieved a action-packed podium finish in a 47-lap feature race at KihiKihi Speedway.
“With around 5 laps to go the spline on the RR torsion arm stripped and we were dragging the RR along the ground.”
Ayrton filled his fans in on the action as he posted to Facebook:
“Starting P5, I started well staying with the pack and going 3 wide down the back straight with us coming out on top putting us 4th after lap 1. We then charged down 3rd a couple laps later, threw it down into T3 on the inside and never looked back. We had eyes set on Dean Brindle in P2 and made good ground until again coming unstuck on a lapped car and loosing some of the ground we’d gained. Unfortunately with around 5 laps to go the spline on the RR torsion arm stripped and we were dragging the RR along the ground. The caution came out just after it broke and I knew we were in trouble from the restart. I got away well and just held it down low, the car was horrible out of the corners but we hung on for the final 2 laps to come away with our first podium! We also had the 2nd fastest lap, a tenth behind the current 1NZ Daniel Thomas.”
