Cooking Up a Feast at Cholmondeley Children’s Centre with ILAM Toyota
Cooking dinner for the children and team at Cholmondeley Children’s Centre is always one of the most rewarding experiences for the team at ILAM Toyota. Enjoying a delicious home-cooked meal and partaking in fun activities provides much-needed relief and excitement to children and caregivers who are going through a hard time.
Cholmondeley Children’s Centre is a charity very close to the hearts of the ILAM Toyota team. We’re proud to have been supporting them for numerous years, and have provided vehicles, volunteers, donations and more that aids the valuable work they are doing in our community.
Cholmondeley Children’s Centre provides short-term, planned and emergency respite care for tamariki ages 3-12, in addition to supporting the local community through their outreach programme. Since its establishment in 1925, over 30,000 children have stayed at Cholmondeley Children’s Centre, and we’re extremely proud to have played a small part in supporting their work.
On the Menu – a Japanese Feast
The ILAM Toyota team cooked up a delicious Japanese feast of noodles, stir fry vegetables, dumplings, kaarage chicken, and edamame beans served up in takeaway boxes. For dessert, everyone enjoyed mochi ice cream and fruit skewers – yum!
Cooking Up a Storm
The team had a great time cooking the meal, with one of the crew taking on the role of head chef (culinary school qualified and with previous experience as a chef, he was the obvious choice!) It was a great chance for team members from all departments to give back to the community.
An Afternoon of Fun
Work hard, play hard was the theme at Cholmondeley Children’s Centre, with the team also having the opportunity to spend some time interacting with the children. Lots of fun activities and games ensued, including decorating the room with lanterns, sandpit volcanos with baking soda and vinegar, and an attempt from both the grown-ups and tamariki at origami.
A Tour of Cholmondeley Children’s Centre
It was great to experience a tour of Cholmondeley Children’s Centre and see all the incredible facilities. Their sleeping areas, bathrooms, amazing playground, and Kura (their registered school), truly showcase the incredible care and support children receive when they need it the most.
A Truly Rewarding Experience
ILAM Toyota is proud to continue to support this extremely worthy cause, and these visits are a great chance to provide hands-on help and support. A great time was had by all, with everyone enjoying the delicious Japanese meal, activities, and games.
“The Japanese food was really yummy… I loved the noodles and dumplings!”
How You Can Help
Cholmondeley Children’s Centre is approximately 70% community-funded, making donations and support from their community imperative.
