A Day at the Polo Presented by Miles Toyota
On Saturday 3rd December guests gathered under the stunning garden marquee at the Port Hills Polo Club in Tai Tapu for the sell-out event, A Day at the Polo presented by Miles Toyota. As proud naming sponsors, it’s always a highlight on the social calendar and a great way to bring a little flair to fundraising for an excellent cause. The event raises money for the Ronald McDonald House South Island (RMHSI), who support children and families that need to travel to receive medical treatment for their children.
The sun shone down as guests gathered in their finest to enjoy some great games of polo, traditional stomping of the divots, a delicious luncheon, and a live auction. Team members from both Miles Toyota and Archibalds had the pleasure of attending the biggest event of the year on the RMHSI fundraising calendar.
A delicious luncheon
Drinks and conversations flowed as guests enjoyed a delicious luncheon and thrilling games of polo. Despite it being for a charitable cause, the matches weren’t lacking in competitiveness!
Everyone also had the chance to partake in the traditional stomping of the divots, a long-standing half-time tradition where spectators head onto the field to stomp down the ground torn up by the pony’s hooves.
Miles Toyota team crowned winners
After a close game, the Miles Toyota Polo team came out victorious – well done to all the players on a fantastic game!

All for a good cause
Every cent raised from the event goes towards supporting Ronald McDonald House South Island, who provide free accommodation and support families who must travel around the country for their child’s medical treatment. Creating a home away from home for these families is vital, and allows them to receive the support they need in a difficult and stressful time. We’re extremely proud to support such a valuable cause, and since the trust’s establishment in Christchurch, Miles Toyota has provided vehicles, volunteers, and cash donations to support South Island children and their families.
We’re extremely proud to announce that the event raised over $200,000! This money will ensure that Ronald McDonald House South Island can provide accommodation for nearly 1,500 nights. This is an incredible achievement and we want to say a special thanks to all those who volunteered their time, donations, and support to help make it possible.
We’re already looking forward to next years event, and our continued partnership with Ronald McDonald House South Island.
