Lexus has maintained its status as the UK’s top-rated carmaker, being voted Most Reliable Car Brand in the 2023 Auto Trader New Car Awards.

Auto Trader is one of the largest online sales websites for used and new cars in the UK.

The most reliable car brand of 2023

It is the fourth time in five years Lexus has earned the title, which is determined by the real-world experiences and opinions of more than 220,000 UK car owners who responded to Auto Trader’s annual survey.

Erin Baker, Auto Trader Editorial Director, said: “Quality, reliability and comfort were three characteristics that came out of our survey. As one owner said – ‘I wish that I had bought a Lexus years ago, it’s the best car that I have driven and I would never go back to another model’.”

Chris Hayes, Director of Lexus in the UK, said: “In a fast-changing and highly competitive market, reliability remains a top priority for customers. It’s a quality that has always been at the heart of Lexus and it remains so as we deliver our new generation of electrified models. Receiving this award for a fourth time reflects the enduring strength of our reputation with customers who put their trust in our cars and services.”

Lexus #1 in Vehicle Dependability

Earlier this year, Lexus was also commended for ranking number 1 in vehicle dependability among all brands in the US. Lexus also received two model-level awards, for NX and RX.

Toyota Motor Corporation received the most model-level awards, six, of all manufacturers, for the Toyota C-HR, Highlander, Sienna and Tacoma in addition to the two Lexus models.

The 2023 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study is based on responses from 30,062 original owners of 2020 model-year vehicles after three years of ownership. The study was fielded from August through November 2022.

*WLTP is the new official EU test used to calculate standardised fuel consumption and CO₂ figures for passenger cars. It measures fuel, energy consumption, range and emissions. This is designed to provide figures closer to real-world driving behaviour. It tests vehicles with optional equipment and with a more demanding test procedure and driving profile. Figures are shown as a range under WLTP testing measures. The most economical figures refer to the most efficient/lightest set of options. A vehicle’s actual fuel consumption may differ from that achieved in such tests and these figures are for comparative purposes only.
