Celebrating Success: Ben Handley’s MITO Scholarship
We’re excited to share that Ben Handley, our Workshop Foreman at Miles Toyota Airport is the recipient of a 2023 MITO Te Pukenga Alumni – Māori Scholarship, with his chosen pathway being a New Zealand Certificate in Electric Vehicle Automotive Engineering, Level 5.
A true testament to how much we value and invest in our staff, this scholarship opportunity with MITO will allow Ben to further his studies and hands-on knowledge of hybrid and electric vehicles in an ever-electrifying automotive industry. Having completed the theory aspects of his qualification, it’s just the practical courses remaining with a focus on diagnosing and repairing hybrid and electric vehicle systems.
MITO is a division of Te Pūkenga, the New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology. They support on-the-job learning for people working in automotive, commercial road transport, extractives, gas, and logistics industries. They work to ensure people get the best possible opportunities to advance their career, while developing a skilled workforce.
Bill Potter (Miles Toyota Airport Service Manager), Ben Handley (Miles Toyota Airport Workshop Foreman), and Lisa Florance (MITO Training Advisor).
Ben’s training advisor Lisa supported him through MITO National Level 3 and Level 4 Light Vehicle Certificates, and a MITO Working Safely with Electric Vehicles Level 4 Micro-credential. They then had a conversation about applying for the 2023 Alumni Scholarship – and the rest is history!
On behalf of the Miles Group, congratulations on your achievements Ben!
